Letter from G. L. Gardner, City Clerk, to the Committee on Finance, enclosing a letter addressed to Mayor Stephen Juba from Herbert H. Clark of the 27th Winnipeg Battalion, regarding his wish to donate an embroidery he made of the battalion’s badge. Clark also included a photo of himself during his service in the First World War.

This photo was enclosed in a letter Clark sent to the City regarding his wish to donate an embroidery he made of the battalion’s badge. Clark’s service information is written on the reverse.

Detached from page 152 of Water Works Scrapbook. A photograph of City employee D. W. (Bud) Steuart. Likely worked for the Water Works Department at one point. This black and white photograph shows Steuart posing in a residential area at winter time. Inscription (on recto): "Bud". Caption: "D. W. Steuart, Entered Service 28 May 1911, Left Service June 5, 191[7], On Active Service for King & Country." Date of photograph is approximate, [ca. 1917].

Series consists of two reports to Council regarding fund raising efforts and distribution of relief funds to the families of volunteers serving with the 90th Winnipeg Battalion of Rifles and the Winnipeg Field Battery during the North-West Rebellion (North-West Resistance) of 1885.

Arthur and Fred Landen photograph album

Photograph album created by brothers Arthur and Fred Landen of Hull, England. Consists of circa 150 photographs of Arthur Landen’s time as Honourable Lieutenant and Quartermaster in the 1st Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers while stationed in Spain, Gibraltar, Egypt, and elsewhere in Africa between 1887 and 1907, as well as circa 40 photographs of Fred Landen’s stay in Winnipeg between 1903 and 1906 and his home in Hull, England. Winnipeg photographs feature homes, commercial buildings, and modes of transporation. The pages are loose and many of the photographs are faded.
