Forms part of Series 176. Subseries consists of the Minute books of the Committee on Public Utilities for the years 1921-1957, as well as the Minute books of the Committee on Utilities and Personnel for the years 1960-1971. Minute volumes include original indexes.

Press Releases

Subseries consists of press releases issued by the office of Mayor Stephen Juba and related documentation, including correspondence and proclamations (1956-1970). Not all of the press releases are final or official copies. A number of them are unsigned. Some draft copies and miscellaneous records on file.

The Mayor’s Office issued press releases as a means of distributing information to the media and the public. Press releases record announcements and statements on a range of topics, such as special occasions, current events, and city projects.

1950 flood photographs

Subseries consists of photographs collected and maintained by the City Engineering Department as a record of the 1950 flood. Photographs primarily document flooded areas in Winnipeg, showing street views, buildings, bridges, and other details related to the built environment. All photographs were taken by Harold K. White Studio.

Election Working Papers

Forms part of Series 2, Fonds 1: Subseries consists of records created, accumulated and used by the City Clerk's Department to run elections for Mayor, Councillors (Aldermen) and School Trustees for Winnipeg School Division No. 1. The records document the process of managing elections including the development of voting procedures, sample ballots and forms, the identification of sites for polls, hiring and training of election workers, complaints, and public notices and publicity for elections.

Voters Lists

Forms part of Series 2, Fonds 1: Subseries consists of Voters Lists or Lists of Electors which were compiled for each civic election and used to determine eligibility to vote. Lists were compiled using assessment information. Lists are arranged by ward and poll and offer limited information such as the names of all those eligible to vote. In certain years, the occupation of each eligible voter is also recorded.

Communications

Forms part of Series 26, Fonds 1. Subseries consists of bound letter press volumes and loose correspondence of the Winnipeg Board of Parks and Recreation.

Metro, By-laws, Reverse Numerical Volumes.

Sub-series consists of by-laws bound into volumes, with each volume containing between 170 and 370 by-laws. Supporting documents referenced in by-laws are tucked into the pages throughout the volume.

Records consist of an incomplete set of by-laws organized in reverse numerical order. Missing from the series are volumes for by-laws 1-175, 1230-1500, and 1751-1928.

ATC Minutes

Forms part of Fonds 1, Series 154. Sub-Series consists of all surviving minutes for the Advisory Traffic Commission (1936-1947).

Series is arranged numerically (or chronologically by date of creation). All minutes were removed from their original binders and placed in acid free folders.

Mayoral Portraits

Subseries consists of portraits of the Mayors of Winnipeg. They are of various sizes, generally 30-50 inches by 30-50 inches. The portraits began to be painted in 1902 and were subsequently painted as each Mayor sat in office.The first 29 portraits were painted by V.A. Long. The rest were painting by various artists.

Scrapbook A

Subseries consists of a scrapbook assembled by the City Engineering Department to document the 1948 flood and 1950 flood. It primarily contains clippings from newspapers like the Winnipeg Free Press and Winnipeg Tribune. Series also includes black and white photographs taken during the 1948 flood that show flooded areas by the Red River (e.g. Mill Street, Lombard Street, Arnold Avenue dyke, Elm Park Bridge, and St. Andrews Locks).

Newspaper coverage of the 1950 flood starts in Scrapbook A (April 4, 1950 to May 9, 1950) and continues in Scrapbook B (May 9, 1950 to August 16, 1950).
