Records created by a Special Committee appointed to manage celebrations for Winnipeg's 50th Anniversary celebrations. In addition to correspondence with various businesses, organizations, and others, the series contains a scrapbook documenting the parade that took place on June 18, 1924, which includes photographs, newspaper clippings, and other material.

Series consists of communications, rough minutes, publicity and reports relating to the City of Winnipeg's intention to lease or purchase the Winnipeg Electric Company, the Suburban Rapid Transit Co., the Winnipeg, Selkirk and Lake Winnipeg Railway Co., the Manitoba Power Co., and the Northwestern Power Co.; issues arising out of the Greater Winnipeg Transit Bill before the provincial legislature; issues arising out of Municipal and Public Utility Board reports on passenger transportation in Greater Winnipeg; competition between taxicabs and the street railway system; and the Winnipeg Electric Company's proposal for a new transportation franchise. The records are arranged in chronological order with some folders relating specifically to publicity.

Included are reports and publications regarding housing issues in Winnipeg and other jurisdictions, records of the Winnipeg Housing Company Limited, minutes and report of the Fact Finding Board of 1947, reports of the Emergency Housing Department, and numerous architectural and site plans for proposed housing projects. Valuation Forms

Forms part of Fonds 10. Series consists of valuation and census forms that document, in part, the property assessment function. Forms are initialed by the assessor and record details about the property and the occupants, including outlines of buildings, name and occupation of owners and tenants, assessed value of land and buildings, etc.

Series contains valuation files (1938-1947) and valuation books (1948-1957) that were organized according to township or plan. Books were taken apart and their contents placed in folders.

Forms part of Fonds 15. Series consists of communications and reports created or received by the Greater Winnipeg Water District. Included are copies of a 1912 report by Charles Slichter and Rudolph Hering’s Report on a Water Supply from Shoal Lake for the Greater Winnipeg Water District, 1913. Also included are various maps and plans for the aqueduct, aqueduct operating and intake records, correspondence regarding land right of ways and correspondence regarding the rail line constructed by the GWWD.

By-laws

Series consists of 269 numbered by-laws of the Greater Winnipeg Water District. Two indices are available: Index to By-Laws 1-163 and Index to By-Laws 164-258. The last eleven by-laws are not included in either index. The indices list by-laws in number order and provide a description of their purpose. By-laws were drafted for a variety of reasons, including appointments to District boards, to define duties of District officers, to borrow and/or spend money, to establish rates for municipalities served by the District, and to repeal existing District by-laws.

Advisory Planning Commission Files

Forms part of Fonds 10. The St. Vital Advisory Planning Commission, established as provided in Section 12A of the Town Planning Act, functioned from 1952 to [1961]. The Commission was comprised of 5 members, 2 members from Council, and 3 citizens appointed by Council. The Commission investigated and reported to Council on all matters related to the location and design of any public building, park, parkway, boulevard, street, land, playground, public grounds, housing scheme or other similar development, or any change thereto. In addition to its advisory duties, the Commission acted as a board of adjustment on zoning matters (See Town Planning Scheme 1951, Chapter 3). It was given free reign as to its rules of procedure and was expected to keep a record of its proceedings. The inaugural meeting was held on October 2, 1952.

Series contains minutes and correspondence files, which include communications with council and customer service records. These files are followed by Town Panning Schemes and related records (correspondence, copies of by-laws, public notices, and urban plans/drawings).
