Series consists of correspondence, reports, itineraries, and research concerning the study of municipal government in North America and England. This material includes research on Metropolitan Toronto that was compiled in the years leading up to the creation of the Metropolitan Corporation of Greater Winnipeg. Series documents communications between Metro and other Metropolitan governments (Toronto, Montreal, and Dade County, Florida), Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton, Greater London Council, and the Corporation of the City of London, England. The governance, administration and public perceptions of these municipalities are recorded as well.

A photograph of a trolley bus in front of the Manitoba Legislature Building. The bus signs indicate it is bound for Corydon Avenue. According to handwritten text on the photo's reverse, the bus was made by Canada Car in 1948, has a 249 inch wheel base and can seat 44 passangers. The photo is also marked "Metro Transit Publicity". The photographer is unknown.

Collection consists of fire insurance plans for the City of Winnipeg. Fire insurance plans are maps showing, by colours and symbols, detailed information about each building including structure size and shape, construction materials and detailing, number of floors and lot size. Additional information can include street widths, street numbers, property lines and such fire protection facilities as water pipes or mains, fire hydrants and fire alarm boxes. The plans show streets, churches, hotels, industrial, commercial and public buildings. The plans were originally contained in five bound atlases. These have been disassembled to facilitate access. Information is accessed through a map key.
