Biographical history

John Wallace was a corporal in a branch of the Canadian military during and sometime before the Second World War. He lived in Fort Osborne Barracks before the War.

Custodial history

Originally part of City of Winnipeg Archives Museum Collection (MU-314), donated by John Wallace in 1996.

Page 5 of a photograph scrapbook made by Corporal John Wallace in April 1940. Photographs depict several acquaintenance of Wallace including two fellow soldiers, “Sonny” Robertson and Joseph “Fuss” McGrath, a Mrs. Penny, and a Frank Dowling and his family. General note

A note written by Corporal Wallace accompanying this scrapbook says of this page: “Mrs. Penny – wife of soldier in the pre-war army at Fort Osborne Barracks. The Dowlings lived on Beaverbrook St. I think. Joseph ‘Fuss’ McGrath lived, as did I, in FOB (Fort Osborne Barracks) before WWII. Fuss was in airforce and later killed in action.”
