Winnipeg 50th anniversary scrapbook

A scrapbook created documenting the parade for Winnipeg's 50th anniversary, which took place on June 18, 1924. The scrapbook includes photos of the parade - including floats from various businesses and organizations; newspaper clippings about the parade and about Winnipeg's 50th anniversary more generally; a program for an anniversary dinner; and other items. Some photographs are on smaller pages (about half or a third the size of the rest of the pages), some of which are in the binding, while others are loose.

Winnipeg Board of Parks and Recreation

Forms part of Fonds 1. The Winnipeg Board of Parks and Recreation was responsible for managing all public parks located in the City of Winnipeg. The Board had the power to employ appropriate staff; pass by-laws regarding the use, protection and governance of City parks; assess and levy rates to cover costs for park improvements; and to acquire, expropriate and dispose of land for park purposes. The Board was required to keep records regarding its decisions and financial transactions.

The minutes, by-laws, communications and reports of the Winnipeg Board of Parks and Recreation trace the development of public park space in Winnipeg.

First 218 pages of bound, handwritten volume of minutes of Winnipeg's City Council between January 19 and December 28, 1874. The minutes briefly recount the proceedings of meetings and are the official, legal record of decisions made by Council. Recorded decisions reveal municipal governance, resource allocation, and service delivery. Minutes also refer to topics debated, reports considered, by-laws introduced, communications received, decisions reached and votes taken during council meetings.

Individual minute passages are marked with numbers in the margins that correspond with a hand-written index.

Winnipeg Housing Company Limited

Forms part of Series 11, Fonds 1. Subseries consists of minutes, communications, reports, speeches, incorporation papers, blueprints for a demonstration home, photographs of the demonstration home, and requests for information from citizens interested in city built homes. The records were created or received by Alderman R. A. Sara in his capacity as Secretary-Treasurer of the Winnipeg Housing Company Limited, a company created by the City to facilitate construction of low cost housing. The records are in chronological order (requests for information from citizens are in alphabetical order).
