One of three photographs sent to a Mr. Howden in 1923 by former Winnipeg Resident John Gorrell for Winnipeg's 50 year anniversary jubilee. The photograph came to the City Clerk's Department shortly thereafter. The photograph is dated 1872, but the date of the sketch it captures is unknown.
Scope and content
Photograph taken of a sketch by an unknown artist of Upper Fort Garry. In addition to the fort, soldiers in formation are featured, as are canoes and Indigenous peoples across the Assinibone River. The photograph's reverse side credits it to J. Penrose Photo Studio.
